Epidural Injections
Traditionally, neck and back pain treatment consists of a conservative approach. Such an approach includes a mixture of bed rest, physical therapy and non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medication. When conservative treatment alone isn’t producing the expected results in managing back/neck pain, epidural injections can provide a significant boost.
Epidural injections are a low dose, long-acting medication administered at the site of injury and pain in the neck or back. Injections afford pain relief by blocking the cycle of pain and muscle spasms. Epidural injections are a safe and effective treatment option for chronic back and neck pain. Injections can be used in the treatment of the following but not limited to:
• Degenerative Disk Disease
• Herniated or bulging disks
• Spinal Stenosis
• Pinched nerves
• Sciatica
Joint Injections are used to reduce and ease joint inflammation surrounding most typically the shoulders, hips, and knees. Injections such as Cortisone help preserve surrounding tissue, prevent scarring and reduce inflammation.
Another type of joint steroid injection is a hyaluronan injection- also referred to as a Viscosupplementation. This injection serves as a cushioning fluid in the joints. This injected cushion reduces and prevents bone-on-bone grinding.
